I found this craft in the Family Fun Magazine Dec/Jan issue. It was super easy! You can still create your family since it is Snowmen and not Santa Claus! We still have about 2 or 3 months of cold weather left!
Materials:
squat plastic jar or bottle
scissors and craft knife (an adult's job)
battery-operated tea light
water
white glue
brush
white tissue paper
small black beads, sequins, or buttons
ribbon
I used 1 plastic
Ragu jar, 1
Gatorade bottle, 1 Vitamin water bottle, 1 small water bottle, 1 plastic peanut jar and 1 larger bottle of water. I washed them all out and cut the bottom of the jars off (an
adult's job). Mix water and white glue to a creamy consistency,
Kristiana and I brushed the glue mixture over the bottles she did a great job doing this! Then we stuck the tissue paper that we cut or ripped up on the bottles and then painted another thin layer of glue over the tissue paper. I mainly did this step. I painted the lids black the website said to use black tissue paper but it was easier for me to just paint them. I also painted the eyes, nose and mouths on. However you can use sequins, buttons or anything else laying around your house as the eyes, nose or mouth.
After all is dry tie on a ribbon scarf and place your man over the tea light. I love my little snowmen!!! I will keep them and put them out again next year!
My kids got a BIG kick out of picking out which snowman represents them.
Enjoy!
