Walmart trip today

Walmart is the only place out here in Desoto, MO that I can go shopping and get 80% of what I need.  But lately in the last year they have really come up disappointing to me.
Today I went shopping for household cleaners and I spent an extra 20 min figuring out which brand of items to buy and then look and see what best coupon I had to use for it.   When I went to check out I had 5 coupons and I asked the lady, did you scan all the coupons.  She says"Yes I sure did." I ask again, "are you sure...?"  I pay she hands me my receipt and I walk away.  I look at my receipt before I got to the door and saw she DID NOT scan all my coupons.  NOW how many of you would have kept on walking.....? I know I would have 2 weeks ago.  This has happened to me so many times, and I did exactly that walked away every time.  Never questioned the cashier or went back to ask for my money back....  But you see I'm trying to save money to take my kids to Disney!!!  So I stopped, turned around and went to the customer service desk and 25 min later I got my $2.50 back!  I told the CSM I know this sounds ridiculous that I'm asking to get $2.50 back but here is the thing, I took time to clip these out, figure out which is the best brand to buy and I'm trying to stay on budget so I can take my kids to Disney so I had to stop and get my money back.   They all just looked at me like I was crazy but I felt like I was for once standing up for myself.

Famous Footwear!!!!

I have to post how much I love Famous Footwear!  They have a great rewards program! I love their coupons, I get 20% off almost all the time!  There are $10 off coupons on all their receipts.

I went there yesterday to get one of Allen's birthday presents.  The shoes were onsale from $80 to $39.99 (if I would've needed another pair I would have gotten them at half price!).  They didn't have his size in stock so they are shipping to me for free which is awesome!  I was bummed that I didn't have a coupon to use.

Well this morning lo and behold what was in my inbox but a 20% off coupon!!!!  I was a little upset but then decided to call them and see if they would give me the 20% back that I would've saved!  THEY SAID YES!!!  Whoot-Whoot!!!  Since I will be in the area anyway tomorrow I am going to run in and get my $8.00!!!  LOL  Yes I am that cheap that I would go get my $8.00!!!  LOL I LOVE FAMOUS FOOTWEAR!!!!!

Fabric Softener

Now that I use my own fabric softener, laundry soap, stain remover and dish washing detergent I have cut that part of my household budget in more than half!!! Thank goodness for Pinterest!

It cost me $2..35 to make this Fabric Softener and I will use it for 3-6 months!!!!! I usually use Gain and that costs me approx. $4.00 every month that's with a coupon!

I have not used this yet as my laundry day is Monday so I will let you know how it goes. I am for sure going to try it out on towels and not so nice things before I do so on my clothes! LOL
UPDATE 7/2/12 I have used it now and the ONLY difference is the smell.  Gain and the other store fabric softeners the scent is on the dry clothes.  This homemade Fabric softener I can not smell anything on the clothes.   They don't smell bad they just don't smell at all.  I use fabric softener so my clothes are soft not really for the scent.  But if you use it for the scent you will not like this recipe.

This is the mix:

1 bottle of Suave Condition (I used the Sweet Pea and Violet scent)

4 1/2 cups of white vinegar

9 cups of hot water

I used a BIG 164 oz Apple Juice container to mix and keep it in. It fit PERFECTLY in it! I guess you could use a big bucket too.

Mix together the whole bottle of conditioner and 9 cups of hot water. After you mix that real good add the 4 1/2 cups of vinegar to that. You use 2 TBSP of this mixture in your washer and Voila! You have fabric softener.   I just realized I spelled Softener wrong on the bottle I put it all in LOL!!!!!

Home made dish washing detergent!!!

Found this recipe on pinterest!!! Super happy the first 3 washes and the dishes look great!

Try it out!

Home made dish washing detergent!!!

1 1/2 cup of Lemi Shine (found at wal-mart in the dish washing section)

1 1/2 cup of Washing Soda (already had since I make my own laundry soap too!)

1/2 cup of baking soda (already had since I make my own stain remover and cook with it!)

1/2 cup sea salt (already had too)

Mix all the ingredients together and use 2 Tablespoons per load.

I added vinegar to the jet dry compartment for a rinse aide!

Sick of the wasps!!!

My back yard is home to thousands of wasps!  My kids won't even go play in the back yard, it's so bad.
Last summer I tried 3 or 4 different things to try to trap and get rid of them.
The only trick that worked was this one!
I bought this baby pool for my Yadi but he HATES water.  LOL!
So I fil it up about 2 to 3 inches deep and put a little dish washing soap in it.  Enough to make some bubbles.
After the bubbles settle down the wasps go to land and take a drink but here is the kicker!  They can't get up!  The soap gets on their wings and the drowned.  Right now is the perfect time to do this since it's so hot and dry! They are really thirsty.  I caught over 30 wasps in the last 4 days!
I just keep going out every morning and adding a little more water to my wasp swamp.  LOL

Kristiana and her dance recital

My little Princess!!!!

A few cool things!!!!

Here are some projects I finished the last 3 days.  All 3 I found on Pinterest of course!!

Here was one of Tony's father's day gifts!  I took a black foam board and arranged pictures on it.  I used double tape to stick them to the board.  Then I used Mod Podge and painted that over the pictures as a sealer!
I want to do this for our living room with just random pictures I don't have frames for.   Minus the I love dad part ;0)
This took about 1 hour to make and $15 to make!  (Would've been less but I bought the foam board at Hobby Lobby and I'm pretty sure I could've gotten it cheaper somewhere else.)

This was kinda scary because I felt like I was going to ruin it but I promise it dries clear.

This is a before picture of just a plain old cookie sheet I was actually going to throw out because it was very old and starting to rust just  little.

This is the after picture!!!  I spray painted it and wrote all the letters to the alphabet on it with a paint pen.  Kristiana was so excited when she saw it.  I called it her letter game!  She has to match the magnetic letters to the painted letter.  I showed her how the letter stick to it and she just thought I was the coolest mom EVER!  LOL  This took about 1 hour (mostly drying time for the paint) and cost me NOTHING!  I had everything here already!!! ;0) LOVE IT!

Then I had the idea to put Antonio and her name on the other side to help them learn the letters in their names!!!   I think every daycare or teacher or anyone with a 2-5 year old should make this!!!!

LOVE this project!!!  My 4th of July tulle wreath!   This was easy and fun to make!!  Took me about 45 min and approx $12 BUT I have enough tulle left over to make maybe 2 more.  If you want one comment and I can whip one up for you too for $6.00!  I might cut out some stars and stick them in there somewhere.

low fat banana nut bread!!!! YUM!

I had 3 bananas that I needed to do something with besides throw away.  Kiddos won't eat brown bananas....  I searched the Internet and found a recipe.  I tweaked it a little and this is what I made up

3 or 4 ripe bananas
1 1/2 cup of unbleached flour (or you can use 3/4 cup wheat 3/4 cup white or all white)
1/2 cup sugar (half of what the real recipe called for)
1 cup unsweetened apple sauce (real recipe called for 2 tablespoons and then 2 tablespoons of butter since I want LOW fat I used NO BUTTER)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 egg
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1/2 cup walnuts (optional)

Mash up bananas then add all the ingredients.  This literally took me 10 min.    I filled up my loaf pan half way as well as 5 muffin cups with this mix, ran out of mix for the 6th.  Bake at 350 for 55 min.  I took the Muffin pan out after 30 min!!!!

I have not tried this yet it is still baking BUT it smells AMAZING!  I will post a pic and let you know how the kids and I like it a little later!!!  ;0)
.........

OK I tried one of the ones out of the muffin pan.  It was very good!!!  Remember this is a LOW FAT recipe!!  It was not as sweet as the original recipe!  If you want you could add a little more sugar or sweetened applesauce but by doing that you are adding more calories.
I think it tastes good as is!  ;0)

Barnes & Noble Summer reading program

I thought this was really neat last year so I thought I would share for this summer!!! My older boys participated in it last year. They only need to read 8 books (we always read way more) and then take the form to any Barnes & Noble and you get to pick out a free book! Here is the link to the form to print out.

Some Pinterest recipes!

I went to the store today and bought ingredients for 3 recipes I found on Pinterest! I cannot wait to try them out! 1 is the Funfetti puppy chow type mix, 2 is the Buffalo Chicken Taquitos and 3 is the Trashed Bean dip!!!!! I cannot wait until Sat! I probably only spent $20 for all 3 items. The middle monkeys are out of school so it's time to get my crafting on and get my office back in shape. Most people freak out when their kids get out of school, for me it's a sigh of relief kind of. This means my 8 and 12 yr. old can play with their little sister and brother and I can get maybe 20 min of crafting or organizing time. ;0) We'll see how it goes because today they were not use to being together with nothing to do (mind you it was only for 2 hours because Cruz was at a friend's house most of the day). They were already plotting against their 2 yr. old brother. They are going to have to get use to being together again... lol I now have a JR High student!!! ;0(
Kristiana took this picture! LOL

Homemade laundry items

Recently at a mom's church group I go to I learned how to make homemade Laundry soap. I made it tonight for the first time by myself. It is so easy! It cost me $9 for all 3 ingredients. 1 box of Borax = $4, 1 box of washing soda = $4 and 1 bar of Fels Napta Soap = $1 (this I will have to buy every 2 months). The 2 boxes will last me 8 - 10 months!!! So it looks like it will cost me $1.00 a month to do my laundry!!! I found all the ingredients in the Laundry soap aisle at Wal-Mart. 1/2 cup of Borax 1/2 cup of Washing Soap 1/2 bar of Fels Napta Soap 1 large bucket (enough to hold 2 1/2 gallons of water or 5 if you double this recipe) You shave the bar of Soap into slivers, a cheese grater or potato peeler works. Heat a 1/2 gallon of water in a pot over the stove. Add the shredded soap to the water and dissolve. Then add the Borax and Washing Soda, mix well. In a LARGE Bucket pour in 2 gallons of room temperature water. Then add the mixture you made over the stove and ix it all together. This makes 2 1/2 gallons of laundry soap and will last me a month. I ALSO found a homemade stain remover!!! I had all the ingredients here at my house!!! Dawn dish washing soap, hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. I've used it on Blood, Kool-Aide, grass stains and dirt and that was just this past week. I have tried all the store bought brands and NOTHING has worked as WELL as this! 1 tsp. of Dawn dish soap 3 - 4 Tbsp. of hydrogen peroxide 2 Tbsp. of baking soda

Kristiana's last day of Preschool

I can't believe she is already done with her first year of preschool! She had so much fun and she will defiantly miss her friends and teacher this summer. Next year she will have a different teacher which is good to get them use to having different teachers but sad because we love Mrs. Wilson. here she is with a few friends on the last day.

Kristiana's birthday

I always have so much fun with my daughter's birthday. Seems like little girl's b days and just more fun to plan! She took Butterfly Snacks to school! I found this in my Family Fun Magazine. Her Birthday dress she wore I bought at the Apple Butter Festival in Kimmswick. It actually can turn into a shirt as she grows older! We made wuggle pets at her party she had so many of her friends there. She asked me to make her a unicorn cake. I did just about the best I could. The hair could've been better. But all in all I think it turned out ok. lol My baby girl is 4 now and I think it's just about time to work on a sister for her. LOL YEA RIGHT!

My Kristiana

She is so sweet and such a girly girl! After her bath today she wanted to put on her robe Uncle Pepe and Aunt Michelle got her for Christmas. So I dried her off wrapped her up in it and she got up on her bed to watch Shrek. After about 30 min she comes walking up to me in the kitchen and says, "Mommy! Feel my feet!" I replied, "Why are they cold?" "No mom just feel them!" Again I say, "They’re just cold you don't have socks on them, let’s go get socks on". "No mom really feel them, bend over and feel my feet." So I did and I replied, "What’s wrong they feel fine?" "I think they are going to fall off they are tingling and I don't know why! They feel WEIRD!" I just started laughing! She has never had her feet or any other body part fall asleep before. I told her "Nana, your foot fell asleep it's ok!" She didn't ask why or anything else she just said "Oh, OK!" Then about 20 min later she says, "Mom! My foot woke up!!! It's not tired anymore!" I love listening to her stories and trying to figure out the world! ;0)

A Blessed Life

So I decided I want to take my kiddos to Disney World next year. My husband is not too fond of it but I know when he sees their face at Disney World and Universal Studios he will have as just as much fun as them. ;0) I know it's going to be a pricy trip but I'm going to try to save us a little money. I'm just not sure if I should book it through a travel agent or try to get all the items on my own by using Priceline or any other company. We will be driving; I couldn't imagine flying with crazy monkey #4 - Antonio!! OMG the people on that flight would probably want to do really mean and bad things to us. ;0) Allen is really into Harry Potter and Nana the princess theme so I really think this would be a great trip to take at their age. Now down to figuring out all the details. Kristiana turns 4 next Tues March 6th. I can't believe she is 4. I know, I know I say this every year and so does all the other parents in this world. I feel really blessed to have the kids that I do. They are good fun loving kids. Even my crazy Tonio whose nick name is ToniNO! These last couple weeks I have really realized how lucky and blessed I am to have found the love of my life. I mean I knew it all along that Tony and I are true soul mates and we have an amazing family but just recently it has really hit me how lucky we are to have found each other. It's a hard world out there to "date" in. Some of the girls seem to be blowing off good guys and are now the ones "playing the fields". At least that’s what I see with our guy friends. And some guys just seem to have lost the "open the door, treat a lady like a lady" attitude. I took a picture frame and took a piece of cute scrap book paper and I wrote on it "I love you because....." then put it in the frame. Every few days we write a cute reason of why we love each other. Yes another project I found from pinterest. I really like it because it really shows him all the reasons I love him and I love waking up and seeing what he thinks of me at that exact moment.

My projects ;0)

This last week I have done 5 projects that I found on Pinterest and in my Family Fun Magazine! They have been so fun but they have also been a learning experience. First one I did was Kristiana's Valentines. This project I did not find on Pinterest, I found it in my Family Fun Magazine! The 2nd one I did was the Strawberry / chocolate cupcakes. Oh my goodie gosh! They were sooo good! One tip tho do not put the chocolate words on until right before you want to show everyone. My chocolate melted into a big mess! ;0( The 3rd one I did was a Valentine to my husband from my kids! The 4th one I also found in my magazine! Cruz's valentines! These are Mad Libs pages rolled up!! ;0) The 5th one I just finished today.... I am so super excited about this one! I turned a diaper box into a designer box. Lol I have never had a nice box to put my Avon Catalogs in so I made this one! I LOVE IT! Pinterest is so amazing! I have completed 9 projects from this website and made 4 recipes and it has all been so much fun and everything turned out great!!!

Busy busy busy these last few days

Antonio turned 2 on Sat, we had their party Sat with family, Super Bowl was Sunday and Cruz's birthday was Monday! Whew! I'm beat! I have so much house work to catch up on however it can wait. ;0) Not to mention 2 weeks before my house was hit by the flu that lasted 2 full weeks. Then Kristiana ended up coming down with Strep so I used a whole can of Lysol in our house on Thurs and Friday l
ast week. The boys missed their first Basketball game due to already have planned a small party for Cruz and Tonio. I can't wait to watch both of them play! Allen has never played before I think he is on a pretty good team. We got to hang out with some close friends for Super Bowl. We haven't or should I say I haven't been able to hang out with them a lot lately! I'm glad we went over there we all had a lot of fun and good food! The best part they don't mind that we bring our Zoo with us! ;0) I'm going to post pictures of their birthday and New Year’s. I was just looking through my pictures and I have some pretty funny ones of New Years. My sister and TJ came over and spent the evening with us. It was really hard to stay awake until Midnight though! ;0/ Just shows we are getting old.. J/K I have 2 projects in the works from Pineterst. If you are not signed up for this site I WARN YOU! If you value your time and already a very busy person I would not join. This site is crazy! I have already completed 3 projects I found from here and 2 more in the works. But the best part I probably have only spend a total of $20 for these 5 projects. One of them is a family organizer. I'm not 100% done yet but when I am I will post pics.

Happy birthday baby boy! I will post pics tomo

Listen to your mother.

I'm sure everyone has thought this sometime in their life, "I will not be like my parents when I get older!" Then we have children and find ourselves doing and saying what they did.  ;0)
I'm glad I do.  My mom always knew when we were sick and what we had.  I never understood how she knew just about everything we were doing or feeling until I had my own.
2 days ago I noticed Kristiana started sounding a little strange.  Then yesterday I woke her up and she was not acting like herself, she didn't want to eat breakfast and was just real slow.  Then when I picked her up from preschool her teachers said she was not acting like herself.  I noticed when she talked she didn't sound like herself either.  So I looked down her throat and sure enough it was red, swollen and a little white.  Her temp was normal though 98.2.  1 hour later in the Dr office she had 101.2 fever and was really not feeling good at all.  Sure enough she had strep!  I just knew it. I caught it so early that I didn't have to deal with the high fever and her being in so much pain because of what my mom taught me.  My mom always said, if you cough up yucky stuff or sound funny (like you have an egg in your throat) you usually have strep.  I'm so glad I had a mom to teach me everything she did.  She may not realized she was getting me ready to be a good mom when I was 10 but she really was.   I also knew as soon as my youngest son had the stomach flu and couldn't shake it after 5 days to put him on a B.R.A.T. diet because of her, and it worked!!!   Bananas, Rice, Apple Sauce and Toast she would say.  lol   There are so many other things she taught me that I don't think she realized she was teaching me I could go on and on.  I can only hope I pass this all on to my kids, especially daughter so she can be a good mommy too.

My first 2 Valentines day crafts!!

I finished one of my Pineterst little craft project!  I love it!  I will probably have to add more names to it in a few years.  LOL

And here is a little project I found in Family Fun magazine.  Every family with little kids should subscribe to this magazine.  I can not tell you how many great ideas I have gotten from it!

Nana putting glue on the back of the doily.

After you glue it onto the shirt you dab the paint in the holes.  Remember to only use a small amount of glue to glue it on and to use a washable glue stick.  I had to wash the shirt because we used too much glue and some of the glue and paper were left stuck to it.  But it came off clean in the wash!  After you paint all the holes you slowly lift the doily off the shirt and viola you have a doily valentine shirt!
Kristiana loved making this!!
I will have to post a picture of it tomorrow I forgot to take a final pic!
Both of these projects took me a total of 10 min!

And the Flu season begins.

At least once a year our house gets hit with the stomach flu.  This year I have to thank the man that brought his grandson to the pinewood derby race our Cub Scout Pack had this past Sat.  Even tho his first grader clearly had the stomach bug he still sat by, played with and breathed on all of us there.  He even got sick at the concession table at one point and the grandfather just walked away.  No big deal right!  Some people, arrrgg.
Allen and Antonio have had fevers the past 2 days and today around 3pm Kristiana started crying.  I looked at her and said "Whats wrong?" She just looked at me with a strange face.  I said "Whats the matter?!?"  I knew what was going to happen.  After having 4 kids you know that look.  I took her over to the sink and she yelled "No Mommy!"  And then it began.
I'm sure I will get no sleep tonight.  I will sleep right next to her bed on the floor.  I think it's funny how mothers immediately jump into survival mode when our babies get sick.  I put her hair up in a ponytail, a towel under her head and one by the side of her bed a trash can not to far from her.  She has her koolaide, her sprite and a Popsicle to make her feel better.
Cruz says "Mom that stinks, your gonna get sick now. You have to clean up her mess and help her so now your going to get it."
I told him "Well it's kind of funny Cruz, mommys don't always get the flu when their kids get it."  I can't remember a single time I got the flu from my kids.  Maybe a little stomach yuckiness but not the full on flu.  I told him "I think when God makes mommy's he puts a little something extra in them so they don't get the flu from their little ones."  Watch this being the time I get it from them.  ;0)
I am making a public announcement right here on my blog, PARENTS please, please, please, if you r child is sick or has any type of fever, stomach bug or anything else going on keep them home!    I know we probably would have gotten it somewhere else but kind of aggravating this could have been avoided.

I'm ready for the other 3 to start next!  Fridge stocked with Sprite & Popsicles.  Plenty of towels washed & on hand to help clean up the mess!  I am prepared!

My Kids

I want to start writing about each one.  Then his never  of my kids each week.  I was going to write about Kristiana tonight since she is my only little princess.  BUT I caught Allen playing Barbies with Kristiana tonight and thought I need to start with my oldest that is my big helper.
Allen was just about 2 when I met Tony.  Allen was my little Pikachu "My pocket monster".  He has always been the out going, funny man of the group.
He loves his little sister and brothers with all his heart and he has a big heart.  He loves everyone and everything his heart is open to everything.  He really enjoys Boy Scouts and doing the whole outdoors thing.  I found him out side trying to start a fire with a magnifying glass and sticks.  He did every step his leader taught him and he was almost there.  There was smoke but no fire, he tried for over an hour.
He is the only one who will play "girlie" things with his sister.  e has no problems playing Barbies, House or Kitchen with her.
He will probably get really mad at me for posting this.  ;0)
I am very proud of him.    Last year he had straight A's in school this year it has gotten a little harder for him but he is going to get through it just fine.
He tells me all the time he is going to live with us until he is 30.  He even told me he wants to go to college in St. Louis so he never has to leave us.  ;0)  I told him the only college out here by us is Jefferson College.  He's response was what about mama's are there any by her?  I said nope bud there isn't.  Then his next response was what about Aunt Lulu's (Gaby, Tony's sister)?  I said yep there sure are some out in the city by her. He said OK, I'll live there trough out college and then when I graduate I will move back home with you and dad.  I just laughed!!!  This is coming from a boy who wanted to either be a Rock Star or a Mail Man.
Tonight he was playnig barbies with Kristiana because I was cleaning the kitchen from dinner and Nana wanted to play barbies with me.  I told her I couldn't so she went to her dad and asked him.  Of course he wasn't feeling it so I said can someone please play with her.  Allen was the first one to say I will come on Nana and he was in the room before she was.  She gets so excited when they come home from school because she knows Allen will play with her and do what she wants him to.

;0)
